Stripe and card payments

What Stripe asks for, what each status on the Payments screen means, and where your money goes.

  • Stripe is the company that charges the card. OrangeSlice Athlete does not hold your money.
  • You get your own Stripe account. Families pay you directly, and Stripe pays out to your bank account.
  • You can sign in to Stripe any time at dashboard.stripe.com to see payments and payouts, or to change your bank account.
  • Card payments are for businesses in the United States.

To connect, follow Get paid by card in the setup guide.

This is Stripe’s list for a US business taking card payments, from Stripe’s required information page. Stripe decides it and can change it.

While Stripe is waiting for something, the Payments screen lists it using Stripe’s own technical names. In plain words:

The list says It means
identity.entity_type Your type of business
representative… or individual… given_name, surname Your legal name
…date_of_birth… Your date of birth
…email, …phone Your email and phone
…address… Your home address
…id_numbers.us_ssn_last_4 The last 4 digits of your Social Security number
configuration.merchant.mcc Your industry
defaults.profile.business_url Your website
defaults.profile.product_description What you sell
configuration.merchant.statement_descriptor… The name on card statements
configuration.merchant.support.phone Your customer support phone
external_account Your bank account
identity.attestations.terms_of_service… Agreeing to Stripe’s terms
identity.business_details… Your company’s name, address and EIN

You do not type any of these names anywhere. Tap Continue on Stripe and Stripe asks for each one in plain words.

  • OrangeSlice Athlete’s fee is a percentage of each payment. Your rate is on the Payments screen under What this costs, with an example.
  • Stripe’s processing fee is charged by Stripe, separately. For US cards paid online it is 2.9% + 30¢ per payment as of October 2026. See Stripe’s pricing.

Stripe sends your money to your bank account on its own schedule. Stripe says the first payout usually arrives 7 to 14 days after your first payment, and later ones are faster. See Stripe’s payouts page, or look under Payouts in your Stripe dashboard.

On the Payments screen, under What you’ve earned, tap Refund beside a payment. The money goes back to the family, and the credits it bought are taken off their balance. Sessions they already took with those credits show as owed.

A dispute is when a family asks their bank to reverse a charge. The payment shows as Disputed on the Payments screen. You answer it in your Stripe dashboard. See how disputes work.

  • Families can see your plans but cannot buy them.
  • A first visit you charge for is paid to you at the visit.
  • Scheduling, booking and attendance all work as usual.
